What We Believe

We hold to the following doctrines as well as those outlined in the 1689 Baptist Confession.

The Bible

We believe that the Bible is the highest authority, the 66 books of the Old and New testament were spoken by God and accurately recorded by the hand of men through the work of the Holy Spirit. It provides direction and instruction for the Christian and also contains the true story of the entire world. It’s pages should not be added to or detracted from. The Bible is singular in purpose, to reveal the character of God and His decree of salvation. (Luke 24:27John 5:39-402 Tim. 3:162 Pet. 1:21Deuteronomy 4:212:32Proverbs 30:5-6John 16:12-131 Thessalonians 2:132 Timothy 3:16-172 Peter 1:20-21Rev. 22:18)

Trinity

The Father, Son and Holy Spirit exist in perfect community together from eternity past, now and forever. They exist as one God in three persons exercising distinct roles. (Genesis 1:26Matthew 3:16-1715:282 Corinthians 13:14Jude 1:20-21)

God the Father

The Father is God, through his sovereign will all things exist and come to be. He has forever existed, perfect, Holy, righteous, self-sufficient and self-sustaining. (Genesis 1:2611:7Deuteronomy 6:4Matthew 28:19Luke 3:21-22John 1:1- 2,14,18; Romans 8; Heb. 1:8- 91 Peter 1:2Revelation 1:5-622:3)

God the Son

Jesus is God, holding the same attributes as God of being eternal and omnipotent, who became a man, without ceasing to be any less God, through his virgin birth, lived a sinless life, suffered torture, and death on a Roman cross, was buried and rose again on the third day. He ascended into heaven and will come again to judge the living and the dead. (Matthew 1:21-23Luke 1:35John 1:1-314Heb. 2:17Col. 2:13-5Acts 1:9-10Hebrews 9:24Romans 8:34Hebrews 7:271 John2:1-2)

God the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is God, holding the same attributes as God of being eternal and omnipotent, he achieves all purposes for which he is sent, he fulfilled the ministry of Jesus while he was on the earth and fills the life of all who know Christ, sealing them as Christians for all time. He removes the sinners’ heart of stone and replaces is with a heart of flesh, leading to conviction of sin and then guides us towards righteousness. He progressively sanctifies man to be able to conform to the image of Jesus every day. (John 16:8-111 Corinthians 12:12-14Romans 8:9Ephesians 4:23-24)

Man

God made man in His image, both good and upright. The first man Adam disobeyed God and died both physically and spiritually. All people are born of Adam and are therefore sinners by nature and choice and fall under Gods wrath. All are dead in their sins and condemned, being incapable of reconciling themselves to God without Gods complete rescue. (Ecclesiastes 7:29, Genesis 1:27, Genesis 3:6–7, Romans 3:9–20, Romans 5:12–14)

The Church

We believe that the Church is the people of God, collectively in all nations. We are the Bride of Christ and he is our head. The local expression of the people of God is found through many local churches. (Acts 14:2718:2220:171 Timothy 3:1,3Acts 2:41,421 Corinthians 11:23- 26)

Salvation

We believe that all of a person’s salvation is initiated, enacted and completed by the sovereign will of the Father, the completed work of Jesus and the action of the Holy Spirit. We contribute nothing to our salvation but our sin. Through salvation, God adopts his people of faith as children, unites them as His Church and pours out the Holy Spirit for supernatural empowerment to continue Christ’s work of restoring wholeness and incarnating His presence on earth. (Romans 3:24-251 Peter 2:24Ephesians 1:71 Peter 1:3-5Ephesians 2:8-10John 1:121 Peter 1:18-19Acts 1:8Eph. 1:13Titus 3:51 John 4:12)

Sin

Since our first parents Adam and Eve rebelled against God in the garden, all humanity and creation has been infected and affected by sin. We are sinful from our conception and are unable to rid ourselves from sin through any amount of ‘good works’ or external cleansing. (Genesis 1:26- 27Romans 3:10-18,22-235:12; Ephesians 1-3,12)

Mission

We believe that the mission of the church is to reveal the good news of Jesus to a lost world and to care for the saints. This is done through loving one another within the church, loving those outside of the church and through the verbal proclamation of the gospel. (John 20:21Matt. 28:18-20Phil 2:1-10)

Worship

Mankind was created in the image of God and designed to worship Him alone through the outpouring of desire, faith and praise. Through the corruption of sin, worship does not cease but is directed at objects that are created by God and not God Himself. As regenerated followers of Christ, we struggle with the flesh and are guided by the Holy Spirit to direct our worship back towards God through confession, repentance, faith, praise, and all we do in thought, word, and deed in spirit and truth. (Psalm 107:1Psalm 127:1-6John 4:23Psalm 81:1-2; Psalm 32; John 4:23–24)

The Kingdom

The Kingdom of God was established in Gods good decree and is being preserved through eternity by His power. Those whom God graciously calls are regenerated by the Holy Spirit and saved by faith in the complete redemptive work of Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection and are heirs of the Kingdom which is revealed in part now but fully at the return of Jesus. (1 Peter 1:1-3; Matt. 4:17Matt. 5-7Luke 18:16Rom. 14:171 Cor. 4:20Rev. 5)
